History of G.I.C. Gauchar
Situated on the picturesque left bank of the sacred Alaknanda and near the national highway at the entrance of Chamoli district, G.I.C. Gauchar is a beautiful school, which was established on 15 August 1947 as a pre-secondary school in the auspicious year of independence.The manager of the public school, late Devanand Kediyal, the principal late Keshar Singh Bhandari
and all the members played a special role in its establishment. Due to the tireless efforts of these gentlemen, the school was upgraded to high school in 1961 and to intermediate college in 1964. Thereafter, due to the tireless efforts of the public and the officials of the executive, the school was declared provincialized by the government on 1 April 1969. Since then, the school is continuously progressing towards progress. At present it is a lush green school which has sufficient resources like building, classrooms, hostels, laboratory, computer room, staff quarters and sufficient playground.
Since Gauchar has a huge ground, R.I.C. Gauchar fully supports in organizing district level, regional rallies and industrial and cultural development fairs. The school has given birth to many high ranking officials, politicians and military men since its inception. Students from the school get place in the merit list of the state in council examination every year. In this way, the teachers of the school fully support the complete development of the school.
रा.इ.का. गौचर का इतिहास (हिन्दी)
पतित पावनी अलकनन्दा के सुरम्य वाम पार्श्व एवं राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग के समीप जनपद चमोली के प्रवेश द्वार पर स्थित रा.इ.का. गौचर एक सुन्दर विद्यालय है, जिसकी स्थापना स्वतन्त्रता प्राप्ति के पावन वर्ष 15 अगस्त 1947 को पूर्व माध्यमिक विद्यालय के रूप में हुई। इसकी स्थापना में जनता विद्यालय के प्रबन्धक स्व. देवानन्द केडियाल, प्रधानाचार्य स्व. केशर सिंह भण्डारी एवं समस्त सदस्यों की विशिष्ट भूमिका रही। इन्हीं सज्जनों के अथक प्रयास से वर्ष 1961 में विद्यालय हाईस्कूल तथा 1964 में इण्टर कॉलेज के रूप में उच्चीकृत हुआ।
तत्पश्चात जनता व कार्यकारिणी के पदाधिकारियों के अथक प्रयास से 1 अप्रैल 1969 को विद्यालय को सरकार ने प्रान्तीयकृत घोषित कर दिया। तब से लेकर आज तक विद्यालय निरन्तर प्रगति की ओर अग्रसर है। वर्तमान में यह एक सरसब्ज विद्यालय जिसके पास पर्याप्त संसाधन भवन, कक्षाकक्ष, छात्रावास, प्रयोगशाला, कम्प्यूटर कक्ष, कर्मचारी आवास तथा पर्याप्त क्रीड़ास्थल है।
गौचर में एक विशाल मैदान होने से जनपदीय, क्षेत्रीय रैलियां एवं औद्योगिक एवं सांस्कृतिक विकास मेलों के आयोजन में रा.इ.का. गौचर का पूर्ण सहयोग रहता है। विद्यालय ने स्थापना से लेकर आज तक कई उच्च अधिकारियों, राजनीतिज्ञों, सैनानियों को जन्म दिया है। विद्यालय से छात्र प्रतिवर्ष परिषदीय परीक्षा में राज्य की मेधावी सूची में स्थान पाते हैं। इस तरह विद्यालय के सम्पूर्ण विकास में विद्यालय के अध्यापकों का पूर्ण सहयोग रहता है।
